CBA: First off, what is it about planning destination weddings that you love? Why?
Pamela from Weddings by Escape: Travel & Romance all in one – two of my favourite things! It’s very special to have a small part in so many couples’ very important day. Plus, having been a beach bride myself, I get to live vicariously through my clients every day! And the best is seeing photos and hearing stories when my couples return.
CBA: How do couples go about choosing all their vendors (photographers, caterers, etc.) from so far away?
Pamela from Weddings by Escape: The resorts all have preferred vendors that they use for the different services needed for the wedding events, such as florists, decorations, photographers, etc. Couples are able to customize their weddings in any way they choose, and if they have an outside vendor they would like to use, typically the hotel will charge a fee.

CBA: Throughout your experience, what has been the most challenging factor for couples to overcome when planning a destination wedding?
Pamela from Weddings by Escape: Definitely the most common challenge would be budget expectations of both the wedding couple and their guests. It is my job to find the perfect resort that will ‘marry’ both the quality and the price point with as little compromise as possible from the bride & groom’s wish list. I make a point of recommending only those hotels that I feel give the wedding couple and their guests the best value for their money.
CBA: As a destination wedding planner, what is your specific role in ensuring things go smoothly throughout the process?
Pamela from Weddings by Escape: I ensure that I am always available for my brides & grooms as well as their guests to assist with anything travel related. For the brides & grooms themselves, having been in their shoes in the past, I can also offer them advice, insight, tips and tricks towards their own planning. I LOVE talking everything weddings!

CBA: Do you have any other helpful tips for future couples planning a destination wedding?
Pamela from Weddings by Escape: Go with your heart when choosing your destination & resort! This is your wedding, and memories for life will be created, not just for you but your guests as well. You definitely don’t want to have any regrets later. And RELAX! The wedding coordinators at the resorts are true professionals and they will take exceptional care of you, so you can have fun and enjoy your time in paradise with your friends, family, and your beloved!
