We asked our CBA Photographers to send us their top shots from 2014, and last week we published our very popular “Top 10 Calgary Wedding Photos of 2014!” but it doesn’t end there! We have three more parts to this awesome series and so many more wonderfully talented Calgary photographers to showcase. We loved these bridal portraits!
We asked our CBA Photographers to send us their top shots from 2014, and all we can say is WOW! Do we ever have some talented members! We will be showcasing their amazing talents on the blog over the next two weeks, but today we bring you our “Top 10 Calgary Wedding Photos of 2014!” Prepare yourself for majestic views, unique angles, fairytale kisses and genuine emotion at it’s best – without further adieu and in no particular order, here they are!
We are in love with this shot from TheMou Studio Photography. It’s adorable, romantic and majestic all at once. The bride looks stunning (her dress and shoes are perfection!), their expressions are perfect (they look so in love!) and the light snowfall gives it just the right amount of romance. This photo could be straight out of an Audrey Hepburn movie.
Christy of Christy D. Swanberg Photography is truly talented when it comes to capturing genuine emotion at weddings. Her photos are never too pose-y and she always manages to at capture the fun side of a celebration perfectly!
We’ve been seeing quite a few canoe shots on the wedding blogs lately, but there’s just something about the lighting and colours in this image by Edward Ross Photography that caught our eye. So beautiful!
We still can’t get over the fact that this shot was taken at the Calgary Zoo! We are imagining a bunch of tigers staring up from down below 😉 – but seriously – how perfect and original is this shot by DeVuono Photography?
Now that’s a kiss! This is such a unique shot that only a truly talented photographer like Paul McGrath of PMG Image could capture! This amazing veil shot makes us want to see the rest of the photos from this beautiful wedding!
This is quite possibly our favourite groomsmen photo ever! When we saw this image we knew Paul McGrath of PMG Image needed to take a second spot in our top ten. The lighting is fantastic and the emotion is so genuine. What a great photo!
This.Image.Is.Magical. There’s something the unique way Jennifer Jones Photography captured the light coming through the branches that gives this image an ethereal feeling. Simply lovely.
It’s so great to have a night-time shot for a change, and with a sky like that, why not?! Thanks for this stunner Sofia Katherine Photography!
Such a fantastic shot in front of the falls in Banff. We have seen a lot of shots here but this one is breathtaking! That kiss! Credit goes to Terry Photo Co.

Sometimes I just can’t wrap my head around how talented our vendors are! One of my all-time favourite Calgary wedding photographers Christy D. Swanberg has done it yet again with her beautiful Southern Charm Meets Calgary Hospitality Inspiration Shoot that was published on The Wedding Chicks blog earlier this week.
Like any wedding-obsessed blogger, I get a thrill of excitement when I come across a perfectly styled inspiration shoot, and Christy’s latest is no exception. I’m especially excited about this particular shoot because I had the opportunity to participate in it! Christy isn’t just a photographer, she did everything from choosing the rentals and styling the set, to baking the strawberry shortcake! Calgary is so lucky to have this little southern lady!
Here is what she had to say about the shoot she dreamt up:
“Here is something I have seen only in my dreams for quite sometime and it was only after I finished shooting it that I really realized, it’s a total reflection of my Calgary hubby and my Southern self.
You see, I am a southern lady from Louisiana who met, and fell in love with this amazing Calgary / Alberta gent. I say things like, ‘y’all’ and, ‘hello there darling’ and he just blushes and holds me tightly. So, this shoot is truly a reflection of the kind of wedding that feels a lot like home while still here in Calgary, rather than back in Baton Rouge.
I found the perfect real couple who loved all things southern, some local vendors who eagerly wanted to help out and one amazing location to showcase just how warm, no matter the snow, Calgary is to its devoted residents.
What really set this shoot apart from so many other southern inspired shoots was how I made absolutely sure their was a fusion of both southern and canadian. Here are some examples, the canadian sweet is the butter tart and the southern sweet is the pecan pie. So, I merged the two recipes to make something new. The strawberry shortcake is literally my family’s secret recipe – we have passed it down from mom to daughter – and my version of all the exposed cakes that are currently trending. I will pass this down to my daughter here in Calgary. I took buttermilk biscuits and paired them with Heritage Park honey, Saskatoon jam and maple syrup. If you live here, you will know they are local favourites.
The decor, from the Alberta rose plates and the lace napkins, to the depression glass and my family’s dishes, were all a balancing act of both a southern charm and Calgary hospitality. The colours were cayenne and yellows, which remind me of summer here in Alberta and back in Louisiana.
Southern charm to me is only a state of mind and way of life but when it comes from the heart it knows no bounds.”
